Lunch at the Cantinho da Praia
We were undecided where to eat as we passed numerous small restaurants. Then out of an arcade a man appeared and after he saw us looking down the arcade he came for a quick chat. He told us that the restaurant at the end of the arcade was the cheapest and best in the town and was the place where all the locals went to eat.
The arcade had a craft shop and a Benfica team shop and then the restaurant. We turned into the first room on the left that we could see had empty tables. The other room at then end of the arcade was packed.
Armed with a menu we chose our lunches and I settled for a cheeseburger and a glass of red wine. Everyone in the place were all smiles and my burger and fries came as I was having small sips from my wine. Even more surprising was the bill. Our restaurant critic was correct the Cantinho da Praia really did live up to its billing.
Back to the ship
The small square where we waited for the shuttle bus was now busy as a meeting place.
We were soon back on the shuttle bus. Unusually we had to show our cruise card to a port security officer who walked down the bus. I did wonder how much hassle the ship’s officer, whose card we had, would have had getting back to the ship. Once on board I went straight to Reception and handed the card in.
The new version of ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ was on TV having its replay after being shown in the small cinema the day before. The video jumped many scenes both before after the murder making it a real mystery to us. We didn’t worry as we were relaxing and enjoying what parts of the movie we could see.
We then watched the movie about how Hitchcock and his wife, Alma, made the movie Psycho. Thankfully this movie played without any scenes being skipped.
I watched the sailaway from our balcony and again saw no sea life …
My experiments with my iPhone continued and I used Portrait Mode to take this image of the flower in our cabin with the Atlanytic as backgrounf.
Here’s the sun setting over the Atlantic after we were out at sea.
Our friends came and joined us in our cabin for a drink before dinner. At dinner I had a mixed grill, salad Lyonaise, New York cheesecake and as a starter pulled beef with a sort of piccalilli.
The syndicate quiz threw up the usual set of questions that stumped us all. For example name the cat in the film Alien or what is Tiger Wood’s first name. (For the record Jones and Eldrick, yes really!)
Time for a sleep and the clocks change overnight.
… Day 7
