The Ocean of the Future

Walking to and from Redoutable were exhibits about submarines, their design and comparisons between different types of submarines from other nations.
We climbed steps and went to look at the Ocean of the Future that was spread out, over many floors.
The last part of the museum was an exhibit about the Titanic. This held little interest for us as we had visited the Titanic exhibition in Belfast and the travelling exhibition of recovered relics from the wreck in London.
The map I had picked up seems to have forgotten the British and Canadian beaches of D-Day!
Back onboard Sky Princess
Our last lunch was in the Piazza from the International Café.
After a rest we finished packing ready to be put out into the corridor later in the evening.
The Crown Grill
For our last evening we had booked to go to the Crown Grill. This had proved to be very difficult as now we were competing with passengers who had the “Plus Package“ that gave them a couple of visits to speciality dining. This was another of the changes made by Princess Cruises, AFTER we had booked and purchased our packages.
Unlike the changes that were applied to pizzas at Alfredo’s that had resulted in an empty restaurant, this change meant that the Crown Grill was packed.
Our booking was for 7:30pm but we had to wait until nearly 8 pm for a cramped table. It was notable that passengers who had not booked but had the “package“ were being taking in before us.
The service in the restaurant was not great either. At first we thought it was because it was busy. Our order was taken after quite a wait and then an even longer wait for some wine to be delivered. After our first course was finished unbelievably our next course came within less than a minute as almost as soon as the plates have been whipped away.
However, trying to get more water or a refill of our wine glasses proved to be next to impossible. I eventually resorted to asking the manager as he rushed past us to bring us water and wine.
All in all are very disappointing meal and one that we will not repeat on any future cruises on Sky Princess.
Day 8: Monday 15th April 2024: Southampton
We avoided the buffet on the last day, as we collected a simple breakfast the day before and stored this in our fridge. Once our group was called we left the Vista lounge and made our way off the ship.
There was the usual issue of finding luggage as the locations of the various “groups” was quite random. The group with our cases was mixed up with other groups. All of this meant that passengers were having to search for not only their cases but for where the group with their cases might be!
It was relief to be outside in the car park and leaving the docks in Southampton even in the rain!
