Lunch at La Corte
Our afternoon walk was back into the city looking out now for somewhere to have lunch. La Corte was at the side of the first square we came too and offered a wide selection of fixed price menus.
We settled for pizzas and beer!
On the wall of the restaurant was the front of a Leyland coach.
The good news was that this restaurant had no trouble taking our credit card.
Afternoon in Montevideo
As we walked up the pedestrian precinct we could hear fire crackers and shouting coming towards us. This was a demonstration that was stopping traffic as it made its way towards Independence Square.
Walking back down the precinct these policemen zoomed past.
After walking further up the street, the sky was beginning to look ominous and we turned back to towards the hotel. As we walked our latest crop of mosquito bites began to itch like crazy. The residents opposite our hotel room were checking out the rain drops too.
Evening meal in Montevideo
Back at the hotel it was time to pack again ready for our flight. The promised rain came as I watched everyone below us running for cover.
Our last dinner was back at the restaurant where we had had lunch the day before. Mainly because it was near and the rain kept falling.
Just as in Buenos Aires we were eating much earlier than the locals. The waiters remembered us and recommended a great local wine to have with our meal.
The rain had stopped again as we walked back to our hotel.
