This week was the fourth round of the internal print competition and was open for any subject. I decided to use images of people that were a little different.
Chillin’
This image was taken with my EOS 100D as the boat taxi returned from Grand Anse Beach in Grenada in November 2015. This lady was relaxing on the dock listening to music as we came back to the quay.
After a brief description of the image . . .
Judge’s comments
– the diagonal with her leg is very interesting
– pleasing textures of the rocks and concrete
– slight comment, she is soft in the face
– there is no contact with the photographer
Smokin’
This image was taken using my first digital camera, an EOS 300D, and is from 2004 at a family party. All the smokers were outside despite it being bitterly cold in December.
After a brief description of the image . . .
Judge’s comments
-little flat, lighting?
– perhaps too tight on the top and bottom
– some judges don’t like hands that are not ‘connected’, is it someone else’s hand?
– no eye contact with the photographer
– a pleasing picture
The scores
Chillin’ scored 9 and Smokin’ scored 8.5.
There appears to be only two us putting in entries in these league competitions as the season draws to a close.
