The plan for the day was to go into Waterloo and then on to London Bridge to explore around there and then move on looking for the London’s Lowline. Then walk along the South Bank back to Waterloo.
This Westbound train had graffiti on one of the carriages. The first with graffiti that I had seen for a long time.
Behind us one of the seats had an iPad, phones and a laptop – working on the train to a new level. We took advantage of using our ticket to travel from Waterloo East to London Bridge station. London Bridge station will be a future visit all to itself. From there we walked up Tooley Street to the Grind Cafe on London Bridge for an early coffee.
London Bridge Station
We walked back to the station at the top level.
Borough Market
This @invaderwashere is at the top of the steps down to the market from London Bridge.
We allowed ourselves 30 minutes to explore the market. I found a stall selling bagels with pastrami…
The South Bank
From Tooley Street we headed down the pedestrian area – More London Place. The buildings at the head of the Place were covered in scaffolding, so no red reflections on the water structure.
And further down More London Place.
Then we went into the arches to explore some of the “Lowline”. As we left and joined the South Bank . .
We stopped and explored Tate Modern as we walked back towards Waterloo.
Leake Street tunnel
Before our train we had time for a visit to the Leake Street tunnel.
