After our strange day on a tour in Brussels, Le Havre was to be our last port. We had visited on our last Christmas market cruise at the end of Covid when Hamburg was closed to visitors.
Day 7: 13th December 2024: Le Havre
Le Havre
The shuttle bus dropped us off on the same street as our earlier visit on the Rue de Paris.
The small Christmas market was already very busy.
We made our way to the COTY shopping centre passing the street market.
Le Deauville on Ave. Rene Coty
Walking back we decided to stop for lunch at a small cafe calle Le Deauville. Once inside we were sat next to two ladies from England who we had met before.
I probably should not have had a small steak but the food and beer was excellent and we passed over an hour enjoying the company. The street market had packed up by the time we left the cafe.
Back at the market we walked around the cabins again but were not tempted…
Le Volcan in Le Havre
Le Volcan is a theatre that sits below street level in its own plaza. From a distance it does resemble a stylised volcano!
It was cold and the plaza did not have a lot of people walking through.
On the street above is a Best Western hotel.
Place Auguste Perret
The queue for the shuttle bus back to the ship stretched around three sides of the square.
These images of Le Havre are from the bus back to the dock.
We were back on the ship mid-afternoon.
Packing time!
Beach House
For our last evening onboard Iona we went to the Beach House.
And Iona left Le Havre at around 8:30 pm
