This exhibition was in the Boiler House on Brick Lane. The artist Nathan Sawaya creates art from LEGO bricks and this was his touring exhibition.
After our visit to the Leake Street tunnel we made our way to Liverpool Street. But our journey was interrupted by the Circle/District Line not fully running. We instead left the Underground at Monument and walked towards Liverpool Street instead. I will probably adopt this route as catching Circle Line trains to Liverpool Street can be a long wait.
Once we passed the station we turned down Brushfield Street, past Smithfields, then down Hanbury Street and onto Brick Lane.
Outside the Boiler House
The Art of the Brick
This is “Art of the Brick” exhibition by Nathan Sawaya.
Once past the reception area we watched a short film before entering the exhibition.
The next room had LEGO versions of famous statues.
On the walls were famous paintings…
The next room had more pictures. The one of the lady on the left below had to be viewed from across the room to see her images.
I sat on the bench to look at these four pictures.
The next room had photographs augmented by large Lego pieces that were placed closeby.
Lots of skulls in the next room with ever changing light.
The largest piece was this T-Rex. We had been told that the pieces had all their Lego peieces glued together – easy to see why given the sheer size of the T-Rex!
The shop had a small selection of Lego kits and these badges and fridge magnets.
Brick Lane street art
Being on Brick Lane itwe walked down past the brewery buildings to explore the street art .
DF Tacos
Then it was time for lunch. We went into DF Tacos on Hanbury Street.
Highly recommended!
Brick Lane Food Hall
I had dessert in the food hall back down Hanbury Street – again highly recommended!
