The next day after our second visit to Saint John we were in port in Halifax Nova Scotia. This visit we had decided to spend more time on the boardwalk. We did have to wander into the shopping district to find the Starbucks that had moved!
Day 18: Tuesday 11th October 2022: Halifax Nova Scotia
The port of Halifax was very busy with four cruise ships. Sky Princess was docked at one of the cruise terminals. This was good news as it meant we did not have to be taken by bus from the commercial port.
We breakfasted upstairs in the quiet part of the buffet.
The Halifax Boardwalk
After leaving the ship, we joined the everyone outside the terminals. We walked past the statue of Cunard, a celebrated Halifax resident, before reaching the boardwalk.
The Halifax Boardwalk
This visit we planned to do more exploring as we walked along the boardwalk.
Reflections …
HMCS Sackville
The Canadian Navy WW2 Corvette, HMCS Sackville, was moored at the side of the boardwalk.
We explored along each of the piers that were extensions of the boardwalk. One of these lead us before up on the roof of a new restaurant that was being built.
The view from the top of the steps.
Back by Tim Hortons coffee house we chatted to a couple of ladies off one of the other cruise ships. They were looking for one of the museums and hopefully we were able to point them in the right direction. Then we walked up George Street away from the boardwalk.
Coffee Bean
The next 30 minutes or so was spent looking for the Starbucks that we ‘knew’ was on the corner of one of the hilly streets. We then realised that it was no longer a Starbucks was now called ‘Coffee Bean’. This was only after passing it several times as we clocked up our steps.
Once inside, not a lot of changed and we sat on big leather chairs to enjoy our coffee and cake. It was a shame that the Wi-Fi didn’t work though.
Rather than go to the Citadel we used our map to walk up to the streets that were marked as the shopping district.
In the mall there we found a Starbucks and the good news was that their Wi-Fi there worked and was fast. We simply sat outside on one of the many benches and caught up with our email.
