After earlier our visit to Stump Cross Caverns we reached Grassington. The roads were clear of snow and we parked in the first car park that we came to. Then it was time for a wander up the main street and back until we came to a pub.
Day 5: Sunday 12th March 2023
This car park had the visitor’s centre for the National Park and no surprise we had to pay and display!
The Devonshire
The pub was very busy and we were shown to a table in one of the side rooms. After checking out the menu we decided that a full blown Sunday Lunch was not a great idea given that we’d be back at Nidd Hall later that day.
We switched to a table in the bar area pick up drinks and realised that no bar food was available – so it was packets of crisps only for us.
We had fun reading the painted quotes.
Grassington
Linton Falls
From the car park we followed the walled path towards the River Wharfe and Linton Falls.
As the path reached the river we could have gone along the banks to extend our walk. Instead we went onto the bridge to look up and dwon the river before crossing over.
From the bridge we could see the falls
Downstream the river ran close to houses.
After crossing the bridge we walked down to the viewing platform.
Using iPhone14Pro’s Live option:
I spent time finding new ways to look at the Wharfe.
And here’s the view up the walled path back to the car park.
This was our last full day in our visit to Yorkshire and to round off the day we headed back to Nidd Hall to see the promised country music concert in the afternoon.
