This visit on the 2nd August to London was to attend a Smartphone Safari around Coal Drop Yard organised by Jeanette (Jet) Landon in the afternoon. Three of us planned to met Jeanette for the safari. Before that morning was planned to be a quick tour of the Elizabeth Line and then visit some of the photogenic tunnels at Canary Wharf and Kings Cross.
Chinatown
We made our way from Piccadilly Circus to Chinatown. The three of us did cheat as even though we were here to attend a smartphone safari with Jet we were all using our regular cameras.
I don’t think he was do happy being snapped and he went back inside immediately – sorry for ruining your break sir!
We then walked to Carnaby Street and to catch the Underground. This coffee drinker caught my eye as I passed.
The Elizabeth Line
My first train on the Elizabeth Line was from Tottenham Court Road to Canary Wharf. The line ( as August 2022) is split into 3 operating railways with the only linkage for passengers is to swap trains at the end of each of the central segments.
Canary Wharf
The CrossRail footbridge
After walking around outside the station we headed for our objective – the Crossrail Place footbridge. Technically this may be a footbridge but once inside it resemble a tunnel!
Then it was time to head off back the Kings Cross/St Pancras.
And finally here’s our image taken by Chris Bean.
