Sunlight on Carnaby Street
Not what we were supposed to be shooting on Carnaby Street but I spotted this bright sunlight on the opposite side of the street and waited for folks to walk through it.

…It is indeed, what is interesting about this image I thought was how well girl [who] has paraphernalia behind her stands out in this image , the background is just jet black , so the light is not shining onto anything else at all apart from the girl and the paraphernalia behind her
… is she standing somewhere where there is nothing to catch the light? I just don’t know, so that is really quite a strange thing
… I like the line around the image, that works well
… so yes, she is holding her hand up against the light because obviously it is so bright it is hurting her eyes,
… I am not sure why but there is a greenish oval on on poster behind her, it is almost like a torch shining at it , there is a really sharp edge to that oval , not a torch so I can’t make out what it is
… then the image works, there is a nice lot of light there that she is shielding her face from so that works well
… but then there are other things too, so I can’t let the image go just on that , it has to conform to various other things , the light, the composition, whether it is a tasteful composition, whether it is dynamic , whether it is likable and so on
… although it has been constructed well it does not give me those other things and so granted it is nice and light on the girl’s face it doesn’t give me the other things that I can warm to, sorry about that, lets move on
Light at the end of the tunnel
On our way to Hayling Island we made a detour so I could see what the Halnaker Tree Tunnel was like. Perhaps another year I’ll go in Autumn.

…there is just near me where I take the dog there is place quite like this, and there’s another one in the next village
… it is an interesting photograph to take because you have held that bright area throughout the image, you have held it really quite well and it works as a mono image
… you have the figure down there that gives my eyes something to travel along through the path to that figure
… works quite well but not enough to win a trophy
