This was our first cruise since March 2020 and our first on P&O‘s new ship, Iona. After our two days and a night in Rotterdam, our last port was to be Le Havre after a day at sea slowly going down the English Channel.
Wednesday 15th December 2021 At Sea
After breakfast we walked around the Promenade Deck until it was time for our appointment to have a lateral flow test in Anderson’s Bar and Library at 11.35 am. This was very well organised and we were soon back at the shops waiting to hear our result.
Lunch was in the Atrium at the Glass House where we tried the new menu (to us). This menu does not have fish and chips and the small plates menu had changed with very few items that we recognised. My choices were not very good!
From our seats in the Glass House we could look up and down the Atrium. Above we could see people on the Promenade Deck and below us we could see other passengers. This gentlemen below us was busy sketching.
After our rather unsatisfactory lunch we went back to the cabin to watch a couple of films. There we had received this note about the latest Covid regulations for entry into France. The French Authorities would not allow anyone over 65 that had not received a booster vaccine to disembark!
Iona was passing down the coast and we did see from the balcony, ships as well as this trawler. Our tests were negative so we would be OK to visit Le Havre. Just as important was that this test would be our ‘OK’ to re-enter at Southampton.
We had a late dinner in the Pearl Restaurant and even shared a table. Then we went to the Club House for a drink. After a 10 minute wait we went to the Atrium and watched an escapologist while we again waited in the Keel & Cow.
Next we tried the Crows Nest and at last we did manage to get a nightcap.
