This workshop was held at a Professional Dance studio in Maidstone in Kent on Sunday 30th August 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions there were just to be just 6 photographers but on the day just 5 came. The workshop was organised by Jon Gray and the model was Kate Byrne.
I have attended workshops organised by Jon before and this was the second time that Kate had been the model. Kate Byrne is a professional classic and contemporary dancer and appeared in the BBC programme “Life of a Dancer”.
The dance studio was large and had one wall of mirrors . The wall facing the mirrors was all windows with daylight streaming in. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the floor was marked out in socially distanced squares so that dancers could practice in the studio and keep socially distanced.
We had agreed with Jon that when Kate was working with a photographer then the rest of the group could shoot as long as we didn’t interfere with the 1-2-1 shots. This meant that could use my 7-200 lens and stand way back from where Kate was working in the corner of the room.
The morning shoot
Lunch time
We ate our lunches scattered along the side wall. The studio were unable to provide us with hot drinks so it was water and Diet Cokes with lunch.
