Monday 9th July was our first full day in Vancouver and we took the hop-on hop-off bus to see some of the City and then Stanley Park.
First full day in Vancouver
We used our 5 Dollar Canadian voucher for being ‘green’ (not having our room serviced) at Starbucks to help pay for breakfast.
I had granola yogurt followed by breakfast on a muffin (sausage, egg and cheese) which was excellent.
We did note the large amount of plastic left after our breakfast.
City Tour
Across Bullard was the bus stop for the hop-on hop-off bus for the City Tour. We rode the bus all around until it reached Gas Town.
Interesting quote outside a bar on Water Street.
Alcohol may NOT solve your problems
But neither Will water
As we passed along Water Street in Gas Town we were treated to a display by the steam clock.
At the second stop on Water Street we left the bus and walked up towards Canada Place. As we passed one of the many shops on Water Street I saw some interesting T-shirts and went inside. Instead of T-shirts I bought a ‘Canada’ jacket, that hopefully would keep me warm later in Alaska.
Once at Canada Place we noted the long queues for the buses and decided that maybe Gas Town was the best place to catch our next ride.
Lunch at The Steamworks Brewery
On our way we had passed one of the local micro breweries and as it was almost lunch-time we went in as we walked back. Rather than sit outside in the sun we went downstairs and sat on a comfortable settee for our local beers and for me a cheeseburger.
Through the windows downstairs we could see the carriages of the West Coast Express on the tracks between us and the water. Where we were in the restaurant became very busy as passengers from the Disney ship arrived on their walking tour for their lunch.
