In this competition I entered just one image in the Open section. In each section the judge was asked to award first, second, third and highly commended to images from the set.
Beverley Knight’s 50th Birthday Party
This image was shot during her first number in the show. As we had so-called VIP tickets were were a the front of the auditorium right under the stage.
Judge’s comments
… not a bad shot, again you have managed to capture face without the microphone blocking it
… the lighting here is a little bit flatter because it is more around to the front, so that stage spot light is just flattening everything out
… so there is nothing special here
… some nice reflections and you’ve got a bit a bit of a background , it has something behind it which you can just begin to see
… [] it is a good descriptive stage shot, it tells you who and what she is but I don’t think it has the atmosphere that the other one has
.. I think the stage lighting here is not working for you and it needs to be the opposite way, in other words from behind her [for] that rim light
.., as I have said before it is incredibly difficult to do these shots well , I don’t think that this is a bad shot at all but I think it is more descriptive
